Mokume Gane, Japanese Unique Wedding bands and Engagement rings

All MOKUMEGANEYA rings are made in our atelier in Tokyo, JAPAN. They are all “Made in JAPAN.”
All of our craftsmen read message cards from our customers before they start the production. The messages from the customers are passed around till rings are completed.
We are the pioneer in the “Mokume Gane” made-to-order Japanese jewelry brand and have helped more than 20,000 customers to form their feelings into their rings.

Our ring making begins to make “Mokume Gane”, a plate of the metal base.

To create the pattern our customers wish, we laminate many kinds of metal sheet, hit it, twist it, and hammer it out. Because each pattern is different depending on the humidity, temperature, and how the craftsman twists the metal that day, we can create the only one pattern that we will never make again.

We can make three rings; an engagement ring and two of wedding rings, from the same Mokume Gane plank.
We reproduce Japanese traditional smith technique in Edo era to treasure the tradition, as well as we produce the high quality rings agreed worldwide.

Two of your rings are made from the same one sheet of the Mokume Gane by the special production method “Tsunagaru-Katachi.”
We produce these Tsunagaru-Katachi rings by taking far more time than any other ordinal rings.

Divide rings connected each other into two.

Before dividing, heat the rings to make it soft.

Hammer down the rings to make them circle shape.

Shape the side faces of the rings.

Polish the inside of the rings.

Set diamonds on the rings to emphasize where two rings were connected.

Research Institute for Mokume Gane
We are the only company to have established a Research Institute for Mokume Gane, and we work to preserve and research the traditional cultures and techniques that we incorporate into all of our rings.

Doctoral degree (Arts)
Each ring is individually inspected by Mr. Masaki Takahashi who is the only person to obtain a Doctoral degree in Mokume Gane.

Mastering Mokume Gane techniques is very difficult because of the complexity of the process in the details, the vagueness of transmitted oral know-how, and an assumption of basic techniques for hammering and metal engraving. We are guardians of a craft that may seem out of tune with a modern society where priority is given only to efficiency and profits. It is our missions to treasure and pass on to the world this wonderful metal craft which Japan is proud of, and to bring it to life brilliantly within the framework of modern society.
