I was apprehensive at first because I was ordering from overseas, but the sales representative was excellent and I was completely at ease once I began the design process for the ring.
Q2.
I was interested in the Mokume Gane style of metalwork and found Mokumeganeya jewelry to be of the highest standard available.
Q3.
The metalwork is beautiful and the sapphire makes the ring very unique.
Q4.
Everyone has reacted positively to the unique mokume gone style, excellent craftsmanship and beautiful design. With such a rare style of ring in the United Kingdom, we always have it as a talking point.

Q1. Did you have any anxiety about MOKUMEGANEYA’s rings before you chose our rings?
(Rie) I really liked the concept and the design at my first glance, and did not have any anxiety. I especially like the delicate design and the sakura motif.
The only anxiety was that they were all so beautiful and difficult to choose from. Options to make ‘our own rings’ made our (or my…) choice even harder.
Roger ended up getting me two rings (thank you!).
(Roger) For something as meaningful as engagement and wedding rings, it is hard not to be anxious. Nothing is too beautiful for Rie. However, I wanted them to not only be beautiful,
but to reflect who we are and what we mean for each other. They really did both.
Q2. What was the main reason for ordering your rings from MOKUMEGANEYA?
(Rie) I love sakura.
(Roger) Rie is at the same time very modern and elegant, but also very traditional. So, my idea was to search for something traditionally Japanese for her. In that regard, I found Mokumegane very appealing.
Q3. What do you like most about your ring?
(Rie) Our rings are made from the same, one sheet of metal. I feel we are together and make me feel strong.
(Roger) Apart from the fact that they’re extremely beautiful, they have so much meaning for me: 1) the 400 year-old tradition of Mokumegane makes us feel “grounded”; 2) the blending of metals,
which for me symbolized the blending of both of our cultures; 3) the very Japanese simple elegance of the rings; 4) most importantly, the fact that they’re made out of the same sheet
and split in two symbolized our unity.
Q4. How was the reaction of your friends and relatives about your rings?
(Rie) They love them!!
(Roger) The rings are so unique! Most of them have never seen anything like that. They’re admiration only grows when we explain the meaning behind them. Thank you so much!

He came for a design meeting by himself
and ordered this engagement ring.
* Mokumegane : Platinum and White Gold
* Center stone : Sakura-Diamond (Cherry blossoms appear in the diamond)
* Side stone : Sapphire
* Inside stone : Blue Diamond
He proposed to her in Kyoto, Japan.
He gave her the engagement ring at Mt. Mitake in Tokyo, Japan.
He took her by surprise.
After she said "Yes", they came to MOKUMEGANEYA together!!
This is a picture of that day.

When I went back to home, he wore suits
and was cooking.
After we ate the dinner, he said

Q1: Why did you choose MOKUMEGANEYA rings?
Lisa found the technique of Mokume gane and said that she would like our rings to use this technique.

I was challenged to find somewhere that would be able to make these rings by Googling. I found the
MOKUMEGANEYA website and we booked
an appointment.
Q2: Please tell us your experience when you came to MOKUMAGANEYA
the first time to decide the design of your rings
We visited Mokumeganeya by appointment in their old location and we spent lots of time looking at different designs and thinking about metals and shapes and
diamonds and mounts. We really appreciated
having an English-speaker come in specially to help us.
I wanted a very simple but good quality diamond for the engagement ring and there was a good selection on offer. Overall, it was a great experience!
Q3: What do you like most on your rings?
For my ring, I really like the "wood grain" like quality that the precious metals create. It is much more interesting than a "flat" Gold or platinum ring. I also like the way
the ring develops over time - I wear my wedding
ring all the time - 24/7 and 365 days.
I also like that Lisa's rings - wedding and engagement -
are the same design and sit well together.
I like the design of the Mokume gane very much I like that the rings are very easy and comfortable to wear. I like that the setting of the diamond is very strong and very simple -
it doesn`t get caught on my clothes.
Q4: What did you think when you saw your rings for the first time?
Delighted with the beauty of the rings, I think this was the first time I had commissioned original work and therefore there was an element of pleasure from seeing
ideas realized in physical form.
We were absolutely delighted with them! I have commissioned jewellery in the past and not always been satisfied - this exceeded all expectations!
Q5: How was the reaction of your friends and relatives about your wedding rings
Friends notice that the rings are different and often ask what they are made from, or where we obtained then.
We enjoy telling the story both of our relationship and the
commissioning of our rings
The response was very positive - people always enjoy the story of them and like the use of traditional techniques - and they love how they look as well!
