Q1: Why did you choose MOKUMEGANEYA rings?

2人ミニ写真.jpgWe chose MOKUMEGANEYA rings because I had come across rings made in this technique '' MOKUMEGANE '' a few years ago and they made an impression on me.

I remembered what the technique was called and when we started looking for our wedding rings , none of the others seemed to match yours.

They were splendidly crafted and very stylish and all other wedding rings paled in comparison.

Q2: Please tell us your experience when we have design meeting by e-mail.

2人ミニ写真.jpgThe staff at MOKUMEGANEYA were very supportive.
We exchanged e-mails for a few days
and Ms. Miyuki was very eager to respond.
The service was courteous and prompt and we were given the full facts before committing to the order.
The order had even been handled swiftly in the midst of those horrible earthquakes that devastated the country
last year.
Even after the wedding, the team showed very good after-sale customer service skills.  We are more than pleased. I wish all.

Q3: What do you like most on your rings?

2人ミニ写真.jpgWe're thrilled with our rings.

They haven't lost their shine in a year.

The pattern we chose is bulky, but as there are no stones on them or unnecessary embellishments, they look very tasteful.

Unusual, but still somewhat modest.

I wouldn't be afraid to wear mine in a bad neighborhood and all the while, I can still show it to the richest man alive and make an impression.

It's one of those things that you can appreciate for its delicate beauty, not for its worth.

Q4: What did you think when you saw your rings for the first time and wear them?

2人ミニ写真.jpgWe were worried they wouldn't fit. The excitement of receiving them in that beautiful little wooden box, untying the ribbon and revealing the precious little works of art blew away all the expectations and the worries we had until that day.

They were so gorgeous I wanted to cry! I think of them as a symbol of our love. And what a love that is, eih?!

Q5: How was the reaction of your friends and relatives about your wedding

2人ミニ写真.jpgOur friends and relatives had expected the wedding to happen at one point, so as happy as they were for us, they didn't jump over the moon.

The wedding rings, however, certainly made a lasting impression.

Back at home, our godparents place the wedding rings on our hands during the ceremony, so they were the ones these rings meant the most to.

The rest of the wedding party were surprised to see such intricate patterns on rings and they will certainly remember them for a long time.

Q6: Please let us know something of your life

2人ミニ写真.jpgWe're both from Romania, we currently live in London, my husband is 33, I am 26 years old and we're anxiously waiting for the arrival of a baby this year.

My husband's a Doctor, I'm a Purchasing Manager and we met on Halloween, three years ago. Very early into the relationship, marriage had already become a subject of discussion and I finally said Yes last Christmas.

Q7: Please let us any things.

2人ミニ写真.jpgIt must be such a blessing for you to work with people preparing for their happy occasions.

You bring joy to so many people and you deserve all the praises in the world for that. We hadn't expected this part of our wedding preparations to be handled so smoothly and professionally.

You have made a big impact on my life.

I will remember MOKUMEGANEYA throughout my life and recommend it to everyone.

I hope our daughters and daughters-in-law will be given rings such as mine on their wedding day.

To Ms Miho Kobayashi

     The Craftsman

All the staff of Mokumeganeya Omotesando

Dear Friends,

We are writing to give our impressions and to express our gratitude for your assistance in having our rings custom hand made at Mokumeganeya.

We had searched for a jeweller for our wedding rings for quite some time when we came across Mokumeganeya's website and decided to visit your store. We found Mokumeganeya discretely hidden in a quieter street of the bustling Omotesando high class shopping district.  Stepping inside we found a warmth, sophistication and timelessness so rare these days and were reassured and inspired.

While we are very particular in our tastes we were in fact quite inexperienced when it came to choosing jewellery in this class.  Your staff were exemplary in helping us understand the craft and the rings themselves and was so effective that we were soon able to finalize the designs for rings that were, in a word, perfect. Mokumeganeya did not simply provide what we expected.  You helped us find jewelery that expresses who we are, even though we had never imagined it before.

While the rings were made, professional obligations required one of us to be in Tokyo and the other in Australia and your flexibility and care helped us through the process. In particular we are very grateful for your effortless assistance in accommodating our wish to have our unique family symbol for the Nakane Emmersons engraved on our finely crafted rings.

The rings completed, we had our wedding ceremony in April at Iga Hachimangu Shrine in Aichi, where generations have worshipped and taken vows. The rings were exchanged before the Kannushi and Miko and at that time we realized that most other rings would have been more than incongruous to such an ancient and uniquely Japanese ceremony.  We will definitely be recommending Mokumeganeya in particular to Japanese friends preparing for marriage as well as to anyone who feels a strong connection with Japan and it's culture, as well as to those who are looking for something special.

Again allow us to thank you for providing skills and service in such an elegant combination of modern sophistication and ancient subtlety.  We've had a look around at other ring store since our marriage and chuckled, finding that indeed, nothing but Mokumeganeya would do.

Best regards,

Junko and Richard Alan Nakane Emmerson

Q1: Why did you choose MOKUMEGANEYA rings?

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpgLisa found the technique of Mokume gane and said that she would like our rings to use this technique.

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_3.jpgMark and I met in 2003 and I had a long distance relationship- I lived in Edinburgh and Mark lived in Tokyo! When I moved to Japan in 2005 we decided to

get married in Japan.Because our relationship

had been so much about Mark being in Japan we wanted

Japanese style rings to reflect this.

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpg

I was challenged to find somewhere that would be able to make these rings by Googling. I found the

MOKUMEGANEYA website and we booked

               an appointment.

Q2: Please tell us your experience when you came to MOKUMAGANEYA

the first time to decide the design of your rings

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpgWe visited Mokumeganeya by appointment in their old location and we spent lots of time looking at different designs and thinking about metals and shapes and

diamonds and mounts.  We really appreciated

having an English-speaker come in specially to help us.

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_3.jpg I wanted a very simple but good quality diamond for the engagement ring and there was a good selection on offer.  Overall, it was a great experience!

Q3: What do you like most on your rings?

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpgFor my ring, I really like the "wood grain" like quality that the precious metals create.  It is much more interesting than a "flat" Gold or platinum ring. I also like the way

the ring develops over time - I wear my wedding

ring all the time - 24/7 and 365 days.

I also like that Lisa's rings - wedding and engagement -

are the same design and sit well together.

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_3.jpgI like the design of the Mokume gane very much I like that the rings are very easy and comfortable to wear.  I like that the setting of the diamond is very strong and very simple -

it doesn`t get caught on my clothes.

Q4: What did you think when you saw your rings for the first time?

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpgDelighted with the beauty of the rings, I think this was the first time I had commissioned original work and therefore there was an element of pleasure from seeing

               ideas realized in physical form.

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_3.jpg We were absolutely delighted with them! I have commissioned jewellery in the past and not always been satisfied - this exceeded all expectations!

Q5: How was the reaction of your friends and relatives about your wedding rings

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpgFriends notice that the rings are different and often ask what they are made from, or where we obtained then.

We enjoy telling the story both of our relationship and the

                commissioning of our rings

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_3.jpg The response was very positive - people always enjoy the story of them and like the use of traditional techniques - and they love how they look as well!

Q6: Please let us know something of your life

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_3.jpgWe continue to live in Tokyo, and the intention is that we will stay in Japan for the next two or three years.

mokumeganeya_customer_0003_2.jpg When we do leave Japan, we will have our rings as a memory of this time.

In the current financial climate I'm glad to be in Tokyo

performing an interesting and challenging role

at work and like the many benefits of living here.

□What makes you decide to order your wedding rings with MOKUMEGANEYA

We were living in Japan from 2003-2008
and first heard about MOKUMEGANEYA through a japanese friend of ours.
When she showed us her and her husband's matching rings
from MOKUMEGANEYA, we immediately knew we would like to get our
wedding rings from the same store, as a beautiful and original momento of our time in Japan.

□An episode while making your wedding rings with us

From our first visit to MOKUMEGANEYA, we were struck by the friendliness of all the staff and how professional and knowledgeable they were.
We were touched by the hospitality of everyone - including being served some delicious fruit tea! - and felt very comfortable despite the language barrier, which both sides made every effort to overcome, as neither myself nor my husband speak very good japanese!

Q1: Why did you choose MOKUMEGANEYA rings?

A1: On the quest of our wedding rings we discovered MOKUMEGANEYA

on the Internet rather coincidently. However, we were that much fascinated

from this ancient Japanese handcraft that we soon made an appointment.

It was that time when we realized that MOKUMEGANEYA will create uniquely

        rings only made for us.

Q2: Please tell us your experience when you came to MOKUMAGANEYA the first

time to decide the design of your rings:

A2: It was so exciting choosing material, composition, design, shape and pattern

of our future wedding rings. And the staff of MOKUMEGANEYA brought us so

nicely from one subject to the other. It was like a lovely game, like a poem of

       composing "our" perfect wedding rings.

Q3: What do you like most on your rings?

A3: As we are from different cultures the rings are composed from different

materials. We have chosen white-gold, silver and little pink-gold which

became combined so lovely that we see the symbol of our different cultures,

Japan and Switzerland, reflecting in it.

Q4: What did you think when you saw your rings for the first time?

A4: We must confess that we were three months inpatient awaiting that

moment. And then, in that moment when the rings were brought to us and

when the box was opened... honestly, we had tears in our eyes and we were

overwhelmed by deep emotions one can't imagine. We were so excited

finally seeing and touching "our" rings specially made for us.

Q5: How was the reaction of your friends and relatives about your wedding rings:

A5: Of course we were asked what kind of rings we have chosen. We were

surprised that neither our relatives nor our friends have heard about this old

Japanese traditional handcraft. So we proudly told the story of coincidently

finding it onto the internet again and again. Everybody was interested to hear

       about this Japanese goldsmith's art.

Q6: Please let us know something of your life:

A6: We met each other in Japan in 2001 where we are currently living. In autumn

2009 we went to Switzerland for our wedding. The wedding day with our

families and friends in a 800 year old castle and our three weeks (!) lasting

honeymoon on the way back to Japan over Singapore and Thailand was such a

great and unforgettable time. Even we like Japan very much we are now

looking forward to our future live in Switzerland which starts 2011 spring.

Our MOKUMEGANEYA rings will beside other memories always remind us to

the time when we were living in Japan.
